Boston Red Sox vs Detroit Tigers 4/24/19 MLB Pick and Prediction

Tonight marks game three of the four game series between the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park. The defending champions Boston Red Sox won 108 games last season as they comfortably won the Al East by eight games. Through 21 games the Boston Red Sox find themselves at 9-16 while at the same time last year they were 19-5. The Detroit Tigers sit at third in the Al Central with a 12-10 record and won both games in the double-header yesterday in which they were heavy underdogs.

The Red Sox will send out Eduardo Rodriguez who is 1-2 with a 7.20 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP with 20 innings pitched in 4 starts. For his career Eduardo Rodriguez is 33-27 with a 4.24 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. Rodriguez gave up seven hits and four runs in his last outing.

The Detroit Tigers will send out Tyson Ross who is 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP with 24 innings pitched in his 4 starts. For his career Tyson Ross is 44-67 with a 3.94 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. Tigers have won four out of their last five games and will be looking to continue building on their early season momentum.

I believe the value is with the Detroit Tigers and the extra run. The Red Sox are 6-18 this season against the spread while the Tigers are 13-9. The Red Sox don’t appear to be the same dominate team they were last year and are being overpriced in most games. I predict the Tigers to keep this within at least one run and continue their good play at Fenway.
