The St. Louis Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five games and find themselves in second place in the competitive NL Central. The Milwaukee Brewers are 1-5 in their last six games and have fallen to third in the division behind the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals. Today marks game 2 of a 3 homestand for the Cardinals against the Brewers. In the series opener the Cardinals has 18 hits in their 13-5 blowout in which the game was tied 3-3 in the middle of the fifth inning.
The St. Louis Cardinals send out Daniel Ponce De Leon who has yet to start this season. In spring training he went 0-2 with an 8.80 ERA and a 1.96 WHIP. Daniel Ponce De Leon will be starting for usual start Michael Wacha who is out with a hurt knee.
The Milwaukee Brewers will send out Zach Davies who is 2-0 with a 1.19 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP with 22.2 innings pitched in his four starts. For his career Zach Davies is 35-25 with a 3.90 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. In his last start he gave up three hits and three walks with zero runs scored against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
As this is Daniel Ponce De Leon’s first start this season there’s no way of predicting how well he will pitch. I believe the value is on the road underdog as Zach Davies has been off to a hot start. I look for the Brewers to bounce back and get the win against their division rivals.
