The Colorado Rockies are finally playing up to expectations as they have won six of their last seven games and sit a half game ahead of the Giants for 4th in the NL West. The Washington Nationals are coming off a surprising 2-1 series loss to the Miami Marlins and find themselves at 10-10 and 4th in the loaded NL East.
The Colorado Rockies will send out Tyler Anderson who is 0-2 with a 11.00 ERA and a 2.33 WHIP in nine innings pitched in his two games started this season. For his career Tyler Anderson is 18-23 with a 4.46 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. His last start was on April 7th where he was blasted by the Dodgers and gave up six earned runs on nine hits over four innings. Opponents are hitting an astounding .429 against him this season.
The Washington Nationals will send out Jeremy Hellickson who is 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP with 13.2 innings pitched in his three starts this season. For his career Jeremy Hellickson is 76-72 with a 4.05 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Hellickson has been pitching well to start the season after an impressive Grapefruit League showing in spring where he went 4-0 with a 0.95 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 5 starts.
I believe the value is on the road underdogs as Tyler Anderson has been atrocious to start the season and getting the plus money against him feels like a steal. The Rockies have been hot as of late and the Nationals have been average with a 3-3 record in their last 6 games but I believe they will pull out the victory tonight as their bats wake up thanks to Tyler Anderson who still doesn’t seem to have command of the ball early in the season.
